Families are always great for photographing, because they are alive, constantly developing and changing. Take a photo of a family today, and next week everything is already different. Life has gone on.

A pet is also a member of the family – I usually photograph them after they have worn themselves out a bit already, and are able to sit still for a moment. With children it’s much easier since you can guide them, and often they don’t even mind sitting in front of the camera. At first, they might not be too thrilled but later, as the parents are already putting their coats on, they’d pose for the camera again and again. They particularly like it if you show them the results instantly.
